Catholic Hospital to allow euthansia

Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being.” ~Article 5 Section 2258 of the official Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church

BRUSSELS, Belgium, September 12, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – The Belgian Brothers of Charity are insisting they will keep allowing euthanasia at their hospitals despite the Vatican’s order to reverse their policy.

The Brothers of Charity Group “continues to stand by its vision statement on euthanasia for mental suffering in a non-terminal situation,” its statement said.

The Group now faces possible canonical action, including potential excommunication from the Church, unless it complies.

The Board of Trustees for the Catholic charity said in April it would permit euthanasia to non-terminally-ill psychiatric patients who request it in the 15 psychiatric hospitals that it operates serving some 5,000 patients in its Belgian region.

The September 12 statement defending the policy allowing euthanasia for non-terminally ill psychiatric patients also said the Brothers of Charity “emphatically believe” the practice is compatible with Catholic teaching, the Catholic Herald reports.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that euthanasia “is morally unacceptable” and “constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator.”

The Group’s decision to defy the Vatican on Church teaching on the sanctity of human life had “come about starting from the Christian frame of thought,” they claim. But, they say, they “always take into account the shifts and evolutions within society.”

Euthanasia has been legal in Belgium since 2002. It is already being committed on psychiatric patients there, and nursing homes and hospitals resisting euthanasia have been under pressure since a court fined a Catholic nursing home €6,000 last year for preventing a resident from accessing euthanasia.

The Brothers of Charity Board’s decision will make euthanasia easier to get now for people with schizophrenia, personality disorders, depression, autism or loneliness. And it will in fact result in more difficulty finding an institution in Belgium that does not conduct euthanasia.

After the Board of Trustees April announcement allowing euthanasia in its facilities, the superior general of the Brothers of Charity, Brother René Stockman, informed the entire congregation the Board’s decision violated the order’s charism and was unacceptable.

The Board is made up mostly of lay people and is connected to the Brothers of Charity religious congregation though it is still separate.

Brother Stockman also notified the Belgian Bishops Conference, Belgium’s nuncio and the Vatican regarding the Board’s contravening Church teaching on euthanasia.

In May the Vatican began an investigation and the Belgian Bishops Conference made a statement against euthanasia.

Pope Francis gave the Brothers of Charity until the end of August to stop making euthanasia available to psychiatric patients.

Brothers who serve on the Board of the Brothers of Charity Group were to each sign a joint letter to their superior general affirming they “fully support the vision of the magisterium of the Catholic Church, which has always confirmed that human life must be respected and protected in absolute terms, from the moment of conception till its natural end.”

Brothers refusing to sign the letter are supposed to face canonical sanctions, according to the decree approved by Pope Francis, and the Brothers of Charity Group should face legal action up to and including being expelled from the Church if it fails to change the policy.

The former head of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, who serves on the Brothers of Charity Group board, took an apparent swipe last month at Pope Francis, tweeting “The time of ‘Roma locuta causa finita’ has long been over.”

“Transgender education constitutes Child abuse…”

(Rocklin, CA)—[LifeSiteNews.com] A California school that had a five-year-old boy transition to a “girl” in kindergarten class without telling parents beforehand is engaging in “psychological abuse” of children, says an expert in child development. (Photo: School bus/Creative Commons via Pixabay)

Young children are developmentally unable to process that kind of information, says Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians.

Developmentally speaking, children under age eight have greater difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality, she said.

So “many” of them at that stage “may believe that a man who puts on makeup and a dress actually becomes a biological woman right before their very eyes…”

“It is precisely because kids under seven years of age do not understand that sex is constant that teaching transgender ideology to children can derail their normal gender identity development,” she told LifeSiteNews in an email.

“And to do so constitutes psychological abuse.”

Kindergarten transgender transition

A Sacramento-area charter school, Rocklin Academy Gateway, was hit by controversy when some parents reported their five-year-olds traumatized after a male classmate appeared in girl’s clothes and was reintroduced to them as a girl just before summer break.

Several parents say their children fear they will “change” into the opposite sex, and one says her son now wants to wear dresses to school, according to Greg Burt of the California Family Council, which is advising parents.

The school board has defended not forewarning parents because gender identity is not part of sex education and doesn’t fall under state laws mandating parental consent and opt-out.

Moreover, California bans discrimination based on gender identity and expression, so not supporting a five-year-old’s transgendering could open the school board to lawsuits.

The school has since doubled-down on its position, sending a first-grader to the principal’s office last week for “misgendering” the boy.

5-year-olds too young

“Most kindergarteners know they are either boys growing into men or girls growing into women, but they have not yet developed an understanding of biological constancy,” Cretella told LifeSiteNews.

“It is no wonder many of them reacted with fear and confusion about their own sexual identity after witnessing their teacher declare a little boy to be a girl once he changed into a dress.”

According to developmental psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg’s Cognitive Developmental Theory of Gender Identity, “most children between the ages of two and four years correctly identify their own biological sex,” Cretella wrote. (Image: “I Am Jazz”-cover of transgender ‘children’s’ book/via HNGN)

“Most children between the ages of four and five years begin to understand that sex is stable (they start to realize that a boy grows into a man and that a girl grows into a woman),” she said.

But “many children under age seven or eight years of age may still believe that cosmetic changes alter biological sex,” Cretella noted.

Developmentally speaking, children under age eight have greater difficulty distinguishing between fantasy and reality, she said.

So “many” of them at that stage “may believe that a man who puts on makeup and a dress actually becomes a biological woman right before their very eyes…”

It’s official…Military not to fund transgender sex surgeries

“President Trump is doing what he promised: putting the military’s focus where it belongs — fighting and winning wars. Political correctness doesn’t win wars — and the President is ending policies that pretend it does.”–Tony Perkins, FRC president and former Marine

“Nearly 60 percent of active duty military personnel have a ‘negative opinion’ of the Obama transgender policy.”– The Family Research Council

“Every American should thank President Trump for boldly prioritizing our military’s war-fighting capabilities by lifting this unnecessary burden from those preparing and fighting to achieve victory.”–Retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin

“Expensive, lifelong hormone treatments and irreversible surgeries associated with gender dysphoria would negatively affect personal deployability and mission readiness, without resolving underlying psychological problems, including high risks of suicide.”–Elaine Donnelly from The Center for Military Readiness

“When it comes to our nation’s military, priority should always be given to what is best for combat readiness and morale, not political correctness or the latest ideological fad.   Social experimentation of this kind is never a good idea, especially when it comes at the expense of our country’s national security.”—  Terry Schilling, Executive Director of American Principles Project

“Every cent spent on this politically-correct exercise is money that could prepare our troops for war,” he said. “Every second wasted in ‘transgender sensitivity training’ is time that could be spent on the rifle range.”–Retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin

President Trump’s Press Conference, August 14, 2017: Full transcript

“To anyone who acted criminally in this weekend’s racist violence, you will be held fully accountable. Justice will be delivered”.

FROM: The Diplomatic Room

8/14/17 12:38 Eastern Daylight Time

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S STATEMENT:

“Thank you. I’m in Washington today to meet with my economic team about trade policy and major tax cuts and reform. We are renegotiating trade deals and making them good for the American worker. And it’s about time.

“Our economy is now strong. The stock market continues to hit record highs, unemployment is at a 16-year low, and businesses are more optimistic than ever before. Companies are moving back to the United States and bringing many thousands of jobs with them. We have already created over one million jobs since I took office.

“We will be discussing economic issues in greater detail later this afternoon, but, based on the events that took place over the weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, I would like to provide the nation with an update on the ongoing federal response to the horrific attack and violence that was witnessed by everyone.

“I just met with FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into the deadly car attack that killed one innocent American and wounded 20 others. To anyone who acted criminally in this weekend’s racist violence, you will be held fully accountable. Justice will be delivered.

“As I said on Saturday, we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence. It has no place in America.

“And as I have said many times before: No matter the color of our skin, we all live under the same laws, we all salute the same great flag, and we are all made by the same Almighty God. We must love each other, show affection for each other, and unite together in condemnation of hatred, bigotry, and violence. We must rediscover the bonds of love and loyalty that bring us together as Americans.

“Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.

“We are a nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal. We are equal in the eyes of our Creator. We are equal under the law. And we are equal under our Constitution. Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America.

“Two days ago, a young American woman, Heather Heyer, was tragically killed. Her death fills us with grief, and we send her family our thoughts, our prayers, and our love.

“We also mourn the two Virginia state troopers who died in service to their community, their commonwealth, and their country. Troopers Jay Cullen and Burke Bates exemplify the very best of America, and our hearts go out to their families, their friends, and every member of American law enforcement.

“These three fallen Americans embody the goodness and decency of our nation. In times such as these, America has always shown its true character: responding to hate with love, division with unity, and violence with an unwavering resolve for justice.

“As a candidate, I promised to restore law and order to our country, and our federal law enforcement agencies are following through on that pledge. We will spare no resource in fighting so that every American child can grow up free from violence and fear. We will defend and protect the sacred rights of all Americans, and we will work together so that every citizen in this blessed land is free to follow their dreams in their hearts, and to express the love and joy in their souls.

“Thank you. God bless you. And God bless America. Thank you very much.

Airline mistakenly puts up traditional family ad in place of pro-gay ad.

klm_seat_belts_810_500_55_s_c1

August 8, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) — KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has produced a Twitter ad meant to pay tribute to Gay Pride events now taking place in Amsterdam. The only thing is, the tweet serves to do the exact opposite.

The ad shows three sets of seat belts. The first consists of two “female” ends. The second pairs two “male” ends. The third depicts a male with a female end and is clearly the only seat belt pairing that actually works.

If KLM equipped its aircraft with set number one or number two, its entire fleet would be grounded for safety reasons. And if even one passenger’s seat was outfitted with double male or double female ends, the plane would not even be allowed to pull away from the gate because of the safety hazard presented to that one passenger.

Only the set of “complementary” seat belts protects passengers from harm. The others have no real value. In fact, they invite danger.

One of the best responses to the airline’s tweet came from Rick Canton: “Fly Royal Dutch Airlines, where your only chance of surviving a crash is buckling up the heterosexual way.”

If the seat belts, aka “safety belts” consist of either two male or two female ends, they don’t actually form a “belt” because they can’t connect. They remain simply two rainbow-colored straps, rendering the term “belt” a misnomer. As such, the first two pairings do not qualify to be identified as either “belts” or as devices of “safety.”  Because they are non-complementary, neither term applies.

In this way, the KLM ad offers a perfect explanation of why same-sex “marriage” is an impossible notion.

KLM’s lesson: defying natural law is dangerous

“If the hearts fit, the parts fit.” These words were emblazoned on T-shirts during Washington D.C.’s 2008 gay pride celebration.

Image

In those days, I was living as a gay man. My initial reaction back then was: “What a great slogan! It’s so simple, even ‘dense, backwards conservative straight folks’ will finally be able to understand.” I was so taken with it, when I got home I spread out the shirt on a table and snapped a picture. That was nearly 10 years ago, and since then the gay world and I have gone in polar opposite directions.

Over time, I slowly began to see that this slogan did far more to indict than it did to promote the cause of same-sex “marriage.” It accidentally identifies the very reason that genderless relationships are ineligible to be called “marriage,” demanding that we all pretend that complementarity is an irrelevant, outdated component of human relationships and existence.

If the parts don’t fit, it is not a marriage. It is something else.

The unsafe, irrational, audacious demand of same-sex ‘marriage’: We all must pretend

Today’s dominant narrative that gays are weak victims, deprived of marriage by society, is a fabrication. The exact opposite is true: Gays are extremely strong-minded and iron-willed in their rejection of women, resolute in their choice not to grow as human beings in their appreciation for half the human race.

Thanks to the Supreme Court’s 2015 Obergefell ruling, our nation has now institutionalized that rejection, celebrating the evils of misogyny and misandry.

The recent institutionalizing of gay “marriage” across the country is a wonder of marketing and manipulation. Its acceptance by non-gays stems from the same mindset that “every kid on the soccer or tee-ball team deserves a trophy.” No one should feel bad or left out. A “Me, My, Mine” mentality that ignores natural law seems to have swept this country’s coastal elites off their feet.

Here is a comment made by a gay man to an article I wrote in 2014 for American Thinker about the 25-year-long LGBT campaign to market same-sex “marriage” to America:

We are supposed to pretend that any relationship “Sean” chooses to call a “marriage is actually a marriage. Sean wants us to pretend with him, otherwise we are all “Nazis.”

Same-sex “marriage” is a rejection of marriage. Gays don’t really want marriage. They want something different from marriage. They want a committed, sexual relationship with another man. And in practice, sometimes these relationships might be monogamous, but let’s face it: the vast majority quickly devolve into open or semi-open relationships.gay_marriage_tweet_447_193_55

If gays truly wanted marriage, they would find a nice girl, get a minister, get hitched, and settle down. But that’s not what gays want.

Having forsaken that right to the immutable definition of marriage, the 1.7 percent of American adults who identify as gay or lesbian demanding to call their relationships “marriage” inflict an enormous burden on the other 98.3 percent of American adults. To ask the entire population to forsake the definition of marriage, and pretend that two guys or two women together is a marriage, is asking way too much. It demands that intellectual honesty be shut down; it demands that common sense be turned off. It demands that we all pretend. It demands that we all become intellectually dishonest.

LGBT and Progressive activists want everyone to go along with the charade that we’re all engaged in the exact same thing. We are not.

Defying natural law is as imprudent as defying the law of gravity

Like Newton’s law of gravity, natural law can’t be defied or ignored, at least not for long. We deny or disregard the significance of complementarity at our own peril, for the consequences of our denial will likely be staggering.

Remember the Road Runner cartoon on Saturday mornings? Wile E. Coyote is able to resist gravity for a few seconds as he speeds off the edge of a cliff, unable to stop or turn as agilely as the Road Runner. He lingers in the air for a few seconds, but gravity always wins, sending poor Wile E. plummeting to the canyon floor, a thousand feet below.

In the same way, complementarity will win. Same-sex “marriage” will reveal itself to be a game of pretend, even to the gays and lesbians so engaged.

Like gravity itself, the logic and wisdom of complementarity are inescapable. Like nature, complementarity’s simple organic beauty and elegance are undeniably profound. And while the Bible certainly expresses themes of love and compassion, unconditional love does not require that we pretend that all relationships are precisely equal, or that moms or dads are expendable for children.

Bottom line lesson

The bottom line is this: It is impossible to be on the right side of history — or science — while simultaneously on the wrong side of natural law. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is helping the world understand this.

“Journalism dies at the Washington Post”

The National Rifle Association is not backing down after the left-wing Women’s March arranged a protest against them. Ironically, the protest was promoted by Linda Sarsour, a supporter of the terrorist organizer and top recruiter for al-Qaeda Anwar al-Awlaki.

NRA-TV host Grant Stinchfield was featured in a new ad by Second Amendment rights group that blast The Washington Post for their hypocrisy after they criticized another short titled ‘Organized Anarchy’ featuring former Navy Seal Dom Raso for being too “dark.”

The Washington Post claimed “some veterans” have “questioned Raso’s use of his time in the service to defuse opposing political arguments.” They offered no evidence for this, but continued to blast Raso by questioning his compensation.

Stinchfield did not hold back as he called out the newspaper for their ridiculous editorial in a video titled “Journalism Dies at the Washington Post.”

“Listen to me, Washington Post,” Stinchfield said. “In fact, I’m telling every leftist media propaganda machine defending the violent left to hear what I’m about to say. We talk about more than guns because every freedom is connected. If one is threatened, they all are threatened.”

Stinchfield vowed that the NRA will never stop “never stop fighting the violent left on the battlefield of truth.”

He said, “So here’s a suggestion for the Washington Post. Don’t worry about how many guns are in our videos. Worry about how many facts are in your articles.”

Stinchfield declared, ““You people do more to damage our country with a keyboard than every NRA member combined has ever done with a firearm.Your paper’s new slogan may read ‘democracy dies in darkness.’” He concluded that their slogan should be “journalism dies at the Washington Post.”

The Women’s March also had armed security present. After being called out for hypocrisy, a spokeswoman claimed that they are not anti-gun.
